The Muscular Dystrophy Association would like to thank the Arlington Fire Department for raising over $45,000 through the 2011 Fill the Boto campaign that took place June 23 through June 25.
Fire fighters from all 16 of Arlington's fire stations boot-handled at various intersections around the community all three days of the campaign. Arlington fire fighters raised $11,000 for MDA in 2010, and the Department far exceeded its goal of $22,000 for their 2011 efforts.
"We want to thank the citizens of Arlington and those drive through and work in the city for helping us fill our boots with their generous contributions," said Arlington Professional Fire Fighter's Vice President Robert Kornegay.
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. Fill the Boot funds support MDA's services locally and nationally, including medical clinics at Neurology Associates of Arlington and Cook Children's Medical Center and the North Texas MDA Summer Camp at Camp John Marc in Meridian. Up-to-date information about MDA services and research can be found at www.MDA.org.
