The Florence Fire Department will be out tomorrow, June 4, at the intersection of Main and Patterson collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the Fill the Boot campaign. Florence firefighters have raised over $10,000 in the last five years to help local families living with muscle disease. Please take a moment to drop some cash into a boot when you see the firefighters out tomorrow.
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. Proceeds from Fill the Boot also help provide comprehensive health care and support services for over 700 local families including: three clinics provided free of charge to client families, the Adult and ALS clinics at Round Rock Medical Center and the pediatric clinic at Dell Children’s Hospital; our annual summer camp at Camp for All in Burton, TX; assistance with repairs of medical equipment; and an equipment loan program.
For more information, please contact MDA representatives Abby Reyes at 512-691-0065 or Kelsey McGonigle at 972-480-0070.
